What's the Big Difference Between Windows Hosting and Linux Hosting?

When it comes to which operating system between Windows or Linux is better for making a server, there is a lot of discussion in the web hosting world. Some of the big arguments on which between Windows hosting and Linux hosting are sprung from exactly what your website is capable of on each OS and the way a website is delivered over the internet. When it comes to which operating system between Windows or Linux is better for making a server, there is a lot of discussion in the web hosting world. Some of the big arguments on which between Windows hosting and Linux hosting are sprung from exactly what your website is capable of on each OS and the way a website is delivered over the internet. To make the right decision, careful consideration should be taken.

The most popular choice for website hosting has been for a long time now Linux hosting. Traditionally, Linux hosting is a reliable and efficient OS for servers and viewed as a very stable and reliable system. Windows hosting is quickly gaining in popularity and has made a lot of progress in the area of web hosting. No matter which operation system you choose to use, they each have their specific drawbacks and advantages.

The most obvious benefit of Linux hosting is the price. Because it is an open source operating system, it is free to the public which makes it the more affordable option. Many of the most popular applications used in web development are also open source, such as PHP, MySQL, and Python, and these programs run especially well on a Linux machine.

Windows hosting, on the other hand, costs more because of its proprietary nature, but it allows you to host any kind of application on the same server. You could use an ASP.Net application backed up by an MS-SQL database behind it, and simultaneously host a PHP blog with a MySQL database to power it on the same server.

Windows hosting started off with a smaller user base, but it continues to grow in popularity. Despite being the more expensive option, many users are choosing it for its familiar interface and compatibility with other Microsoft products. If your site is going to use ASP or .Net applications, a Windows server is the only way to go.

Both Linux hosting and Windows hosting platforms continue to grow and evolve, and they are becoming more advanced and more convenient to use. At the same time, they are becoming more specialized in how they can be most effectively used.

In the end, that is the largest difference between the operating systems: what they are going to be used for. If you are planning a traditional website (graphics, text, ecommerce functions, etc) then you are probably okay using a Linux hosting platform. If, on the other hand, you are using a few more complex, interactive features, then Windows just might be the way to go.

Linux development is an ongoing process by a huge community of users. Some people have been hesitant in the past to use an open source operating system because of a perceived lack of support, but now, thanks to the growing community of Linux developers, a user can quickly and easily find the help and support they need, or an application for almost any situation.

The Best Web hosting For Newbies

When you are just starting out, you main business strategy should be not to spend too much money and keep your costs down.

The reason for this is that when you are just starting you are not really making money, you are merely beginning a learning process that eventually will deliver the goods for you.

Now, one of the inevitable costs of starting an online business it the hosting service, since a website is an essential part of the whole internet business model.

Indeed, no matter if you plan on going for ecommerce, internet marketing, affiliate marketing, CPA marketing, AdSense revenue or any other ad revenue, you need a place a virtual location where to host and display whatever you are promoting.

You will find some free hosting services out there, but they will usually be ad supported, meaning that in exchange for the free service, they will display ads on your site that will likely deviate your visitor's attention, and believe me, this is the last thing you want.

Also, unwanted or irrelevant ads on your website hurt the professional look and appearance of your website, and diminishes your authority and the trust of your visitors.

On the other hand, free hosting services tend to be unreliable because they are free, so if something happens to your website, you basically have no right to complaint.

Therefore, even though keeping your costs down is a #1 priority when you are just starting, avoiding a small investment in a reliable hosting service that you can depend on is simply bad business.

First, it is important that you place the design and construction of your websites within your learning curve, so that as you become a more seasoned online entrepreneur, you gradually gain the skills to build better and more appealing websites thus increasing your conversion rates overtime.

If you use a paid hosting service from the start you will get used to building your websites professionally, and by the time you have learned all the ropes of your business, planning and executing new projects successfully will be a ride in the park.

However, do not get scared by the thought of investing in your hosting service because right now you can get first quality hosting for less than $4 per month with everything you might need included in your package, such as friendly website builders, and no bandwidth, email accounts or storage limits.
I personally recommend you to go with FatCow.com, which is one of the most affordable and reliable hosting services you can find right now, which will only cost you $3.67/month and it will help you "get your feet wet" until you become profitable without draining your bank account.

They also have real 24/7 support that is actually there when you need it, so go to FatCow.com to get started now. Trust me, do not use any other service, because you will be missing on huge savings and great features other service simply cannot offer.

This article goes over the main features to look out for in any hosting packages to determine the most appropriate solution for your business or personal needs. Some website projects can run efficiently on shared hosting which some websites demand no less than a virtual private server. In other occasions, the operating system requirements may differ. Linux is the most widely used hosting platform, however, some specialized needs may only work on a windows server.

Disk Space

Some web hosting companies tend to advertise their plans as unlimited or unmetered. That, however, does not mean that you have petabytes upon petabytes of space at your disposal. Disk space usage goes together with how much memory and processor cycles the website scripts consume. It is always advisable to go for a web hosting space that meets or slightly exceeds your requirements. You can always upgrade your packages later as the website grows.

Bandwidth

Once again, many web hosts advertise their bandwidth offering as unlimited, but at the same time restrict your usage based on CPU and memory cycles. For a personal website, 10 megabytes to 50 megabytes of bandwidth per month may suffice. A corporate website may consume anywhere between 20 megabytes to 100 gigabytes of bandwidth per month.

As with the case of disk pace, it is best to choose a bandwidth package that slightly exceeds your current demand and upgrade this feature as needed in the future.

Uptime

The holy grail of hosting is uptime, and this is considered the main feature of any web hosting package. 99.9% uptime per month is considered the industry standard nowadays; anything below this percentage is unwelcome. However, majority of companies falsely advertise their uptime percentage, even if they do not succeed in meeting this promise.

Industry experts recommend reading reviews about hosting companies on review sites, blogs and forums before signing up with any hosting plans with any company.

Now, that DirectX 11 with Windows 7 are released and also the new AMD’s ATI HD 5870 with support for DirectX 11, BattleForge has been updated in order to be able to run using Direct X 11 on supported hardware. with this in mind, you can expect a higher level of performance for the same processing power, which in turn allows more to be done with the game graphically and this translates in higher frame rates and new ways of creating graphical effects, such as shadows and lighting. A game that both runs and looks better is what rises from all of this.

It is told that DirectX 11 will ofer new generation of GPU goodness, especially for games. DirectX 11 offers some new features, tessellation being one of them and will enable artists to make smoother and less blocky models in 3D games. DX11 also knows how to take advantage of CPUs with multiple cores.

Seeing the benefit for games, the most important addition to all of this could be the compute shader, which will finally bring in the GPGPU that has been talked about lately.

After we all been waiting for the first DirectX 11 supporting game , it has finally arrived.

There is a new patch available for the EA free-to-play fantasy card game BattleForge which enables DirectX 11 functions and it's said that is offers smoother framerates along with new graphical effects on DX11 systems with DX11 hardware.

TEKANAN HIDROSTATIS

Ph = r g h
Pt = Po + Ph
F = P h A = r g V r = massa jenis zat cair
h = tinggi zat cair dari permukaan
g = percepatan gravitasi
Pt = tekanan total
Po = tekanan udara luar

Retailers Ready For Windows 7 Launch

No one is expecting lineups around the block or crashed e-commerce servers, but major retailers—both online and off—are preparing for Thursday's launch of Windows 7 with a range of promotions and special offers.

Their hope is that the release of Microsoft's newest operating system will jumpstart flagging PC sales.

Big box retailer Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) has placed Windows 7 front and center on its home page, and is offering free Express Shipping on all PCs with the OS pre-installed. The chain promises that consumers who order a Windows 7 machine by 11 a.m. Wednesday will receive delivery on launch day.

Best Buy also is touting an HP "PC Home Makeover" centered around Windows 7. Shoppers can purchase a bundle that includes a Windows 7-based desktop, laptop, netbook, monitor, and wireless router for $1199.

Not to be outdone, Web merchant Amazon (NSDQ: AMZN) is promoting Windows 7 heavily, and is offering free Express Shipping. Early adopters, however, will have to pay $5.98 to receive the OS by Thursday, unless they are Amazon Prime members. Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, Family Pack, is currently Amazon's best seller in the software category, based on pre-orders.

Not all retailers are up to date. J&R, a New York City-based chain that serves the Northeast, was still promoting Windows Vista on its Web site as of Tuesday morning—likely to Redmond's chagrin. It even offered an online product tour of Windows 7's widely maligned predecessor.

Users knocked Vista for its heavy hardware requirements, intrusive security measures, and incompatibility with older software. Its unpopularity contributed to a dismal year for Microsoft and a number of PC makers.

Windows sales were off 13% in Microsoft's fiscal year ended June 30, and plunged a whopping 29% in the company's fourth quarter. Those numbers should get a boost from Windows 7's launch, but whether it's a lasting one will depend on the ability of Microsoft and its retail partners to convince consumers that the new OS is much improved over Vista. Early reviews have been largely positive.

The full version of Windows 7 Home Premium is priced at $199, with an upgrade from Vista or XP costing $119. The full version of Windows 7 Professional is $299, with upgrades going for $199. Windows 7 Ultimate is priced at $319, with the upgrade version at $219.

'Free' Windows 7 Upgrades Still Cost Money

Sometimes free just isn't free.

Did you buy a new PC this past summer with the promise of a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it launches on October 22? Well, it turns out that the upgrade might not be completely free.

While the license for Windows 7 upgrade itself will be free, getting to delivered might come with a small charge, depending on your situation and from which computer maker you bought your machine.

Mouseprint.org looked into the matter and found that no manufacturers listed upfront any of the costs related to redeeming for the upgrade. Of course, shipping and handling charges may vary by region and product, but the jump from "free" to "pay" happens only after a customer fills in his or her information during the request for the upgrade.

Most computer buyers will indeed be able to get their upgrades for free, but those who have to pay will have to fork over anywhere from $11.25 to $17.03.

Compaq, HP, Sony and Toshiba will have both cases of charge-free upgrades as well as some that will require a handling fee. It'll depend on a number of factors, many of which are still unknown.

All U.S. Dell customers, both online and retail, will qualify for a free upgrade. Acer, along with its eMachines and Gateway line will all offer upgrades completely free of charge.

Lenovo, on the other hand, will be charging $17.03 for all buyers. Boo on that.

If you've purchased a PC recently that qualified for a free upgrade, it's time to check to see if your upgrade is really for free.

Next Firefox can detect computer orientation

The upcoming version 3.6 of Firefox will be able to tell if you're listing to starboard--and pass that information along to applications running in the browser.

That's because the browser will be able to detect the orientation of laptops and mobile devices equipped with accelerometers that can tell which way is down. The reason for the work: Web applications running in the browser will be able to use the information, useful for labyrinth-type games with virtual marbles rolling around boards, and any number of other gaming situations.

Mozilla evangelist Christopher Blizzard announced Firefox's coming orientation interface Monday.

"One new feature that we're including as part of Firefox 3.6 is support for web pages to access machine orientation information if it's available," Blizzard wrote. "Many modern MacBooks and ThinkPads contain devices and drivers that expose this information. We've added support for Linux, Macs and some ThinkPads where drivers and devices are available."

Mozilla is working on the technology for mobile devices, too, where orientation-aware games are a big deal.

The move is one of many by browser makers eager to transform their software from passive receptacles for showing Web sites to an active foundation for interactive applications. Firefox 3.6 is scheduled for beta testing shortly and final release later this year.

Yahoo has worked on browser-based orientation technology through its BrowserPlus software.
